VENICE (/ˈvɛnɪs/ )

It is situated across a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges.The islands are located in the shallow Venetian Lagoon, an enclosed bay that lies between the mouths of the Po and the Piave rivers (more exactly between the Brenta and the Sile). Parts of Venice are renowned for the beauty of their settings, their architecture, and artwork.The lagoon and a part of the city are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

             We only took a day tour in Venice, rode a train going to the port of Venice then rode a Private water taxi which we rented to take us to the center of the city. We went to Piazza San Marco, Saint Mark’s Basilica, Ate pizza and spaghetti, toured on a private gondola in the grand canal, and went to Rialto Bridge.

Piazza San Marco

Piazza San Marco, often known in English as St Mark’s Square, is the principal public square of Venice, Italy, where it is generally known just as la Piazza. All other urban spaces in the city are called campi. The Piazzetta is an extension of the Piazza towards the lagoon in its south east corner.

The Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark, commonly known as Saint Mark’s Basilica, is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice, northern Italy. It is the most famous of the city’s churches and one of the best known examples of Italo-Byzantine architecture.

With its gondolas, canals, amazing restaurants, and unforgettable romantic ambiance, Venice is definitely a city for one’s bucket list. Waterfront palazzos, palaces, and churches make drifting down the Grand Canal feel like cruising through a painting. To really experience Venice you must go to the opera or to a classical music performance, nibble fresh pasta and pastries, and linger in the exhibit halls of an art gallery.
