Prague, capital city of the Czech Republic, is bisected by the Vltava River. Nicknamed “the City of a Hundred Spires,” it’s known for its Old Town Square, the heart of its historic core, with colorful baroque buildings, Gothic churches and the medieval Astronomical Clock, which gives an animated hourly show. Completed in 1402, pedestrian Charles Bridge is lined with statues of Catholic saints.
Charles Bridge is a historic bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague, Czech Republic.
Beautiful bridge to take a stroll on. You get a good view of the cathedral and castle on one side and the modern city in the other. There are lots of tourists here as well so you won’t find much privacy. The statues on the bridge are quite artistic. This bridge takes you across to a very quaint town you can feed the swans and take great pictures really good restaurants and bakery shops.
St. Vitus Cathedral
Stunning architecture reminds me of the ‘unfinished cathedral ‘ in Barcelona. The approach is impressive across a long bridge towards sentries dressed in traditional costume (a tourist trapping camera opportunity) the grounds are lovely. Truly a sight to be seen the painted windows alone are remarkable and there are so many relics, each with their own story to tell.
“The most beautiful in the world is, of course, the world itself.” – Wallace Stevens
